Terence J. Miles Dan Britton is a national treasure. Fascinating compositions with superb musicianship. This will keep me busy for a LONG time.

Carsten Pieper Another fantastic Dan Britton release, this time 80 minutes of purely instrumental progginess that failed to bore me a single second.
The album comes as part of an ambitious 7 album concept. I have no idea if Dan will finish that, but parts 1 (Heliotians) and 2 are very promising indeed! Favorite track: A Numbered Rat, a High Ledge, and a Maze of Horizons.

Sven B. Schreiber (sbs) Some of the people I follow, renowned for their infallible musical taste (Chris van Eijnsbergen, M.Foujita), already purchased this brandnew album by "Deluge Grander" right after its release, so now it's finally high time for me, too. It's based on a concept, explained in detail in the enclosed extensive PDF booklet, and in turn is part of an unusual 7-album concept, which, in a nutshell, aims at creating a perfect album by merging two, which are themselves the result of merging four albums. Did I get it right? Well, if so, the strange thing is that "Oceanarium" has been derived from "Helotians" and "Lunarians" - with the latter not being released yet in the first place... umm, well, nevermind, Dan Britton surely knows what he's doing... Anyway, we can expect many years of great unusual music on another five albums by "Deluge Grander", and if they are going to be nearly as brilliant as "Helotians" and "Oceanarium", the future of prog is bright. Favorite track: Water to Glass - The Ultimate Solution.

about

The music on "Oceanarium" is entirely instrumental, densely orchestrated, and has a wide variety of instruments, including cello, trumpet, bass clarinet, flute, saxophone, hammered dulcimer, banjo, mandolin, violin, oboe, and trombone, in addition to the usual keyboards, guitars, bass, and drums. Although many musical styles are included, the end result probably fits nicely under the label "symphonic prog."

"Oceanarium" is the second album in a planned three-level seven-album series. The first album "Heliotians" was released in 2014, and the third album "Lunarians" will hopefully be released in 2018. Those two albums had/will have hand-painted artwork and hand-written lyrics and/or notes for each of the roughly 300 copies (each containing a vinyl LP and CD). "Oceanarium," on the other hand, will be released as a regular 80-minute CD and double vinyl album. "Oceanarium" is on the middle tier of the three-tiered seven-album series and contains ideas found in the two albums beneath it (the previously mentioned "Heliotians" and "Lunarians"), but unlike those two albums, it is densely and carefully orchestrated and is entirely instrumental.
